What is a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card?

A Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) is a scheme that provides eligible Australian seniors access to medical bulk billing and discounted medicines. It allows CSHC holders access to federal and several other state concessions. For example, CSHC holders in Western Australia receives $1,660 of concessions on their health expenses.

New eligibility criteria

Effective from July 1 2022, the new Labor government has raised the income thresholds meaning that more retirees will benefit and be eligible to apply for a CSHC.

For a single self-funded retiree, the previous income threshold for a CSHC holder of just under $58,000 a year for a will increase to $90,000 a year.

For self-funded retired couples, the previous income threshold for a CSHC holder of just over $92,000 will increase to $144,000.

How does this effect you?

For our residents across Ingenia Gardens, if you are a self-funded retiree, we encourage you to check to see if you now fall into the eligibility criteria.
