Congratulations to Valma Thomas from Elphinwood Gardens on being selected to attend the Boer War commemorative service in Canberra this May.

Valma is Tasmania’s last remaining first generation descendant of a Boer War soldier. Her father, Arthur Chilcott served with her uncle, Charles in South Africa before enlisting in World War I.

The service is to be held in Canberra on the morning of Boer War Day (31st May) and will see the dedication of the newly completed Australian National Boer War Memorial in ANZAC Parade Canberra.
